Jolie lives within walking distance of the tastefully renovated beffroy, warm and caring welcome, and the host took the time to tell us some anecdotes about the history of the place, which made this meeting very pleasant.

A charming moment

Well located in Douai, with a family welcome (and a very friendly and peaceful breakfast), perfect and personalized rooms, don't miss this stop full of memories of Douai, its poets, musicians, its history whose hostess will tell you with enthusiasm.

What a wonderful place to stay

I've spent two very pleasant nights in this charming and welcoming hotel, the family is very welcoming and caring, the setting is very nice in the center, the house is very well maintained, the property, the bed is perfect, the perpetual stresses and dissatisfactions abstain... this family deserves five kids.

A moment of sweetness in this very intense work week

We have stayed several times in this beautiful and old Douaian house belonging to a lady and her son. The comfort of the room is quite right, but there is still a big gap...L'APPIT DEJEUNER. If you want to take it at 7am, Mr. Caillaux, the owner seems petrified to have to get up at an hour that for most mortals is more than reasonable. Then he buys the croissants the day before (unless you ask for the night, this is the condition of the bread) and you know that he will program the coffee shops so that he can stay in the arms of Morphée (allons, you don't know that the cousins belong to those who are going to get up early).

Central location but can do better in terms of comfort!

This Chambre D'Hotes is well situated in the town centre offering plenty of opportunity for sightseeing or eating within walking distance.  The owner is very helpful and accommodating.  We were informed of plenty of dining options available close to the accommodation.  At breakfast, we were joined by dowager, the owner's mother, and so we had French conversation included.  The interior is very nicely decorated with a classic feel but is very comfortable.

Historic and Unique

New family meeting in Douai where we stayed at this beautiful guest house held by MME CAILLAUX and her son. Always as friendly and courteous welcome on arrival, giving good advice on the tours to be made in the area and the restaurants to be tested. Very complete breakfast and drop-in history pages for those interested. A must-see in Douai away from the dehumanized hotels. I highly recommend.

In a master's house and welcomed by very friendly Douaisiens!

Great B&B in a very old grand french house where the owner and his mother's family have lived for generations. You don't stay in their house that has been used for filming period dramas but in the converted stables adjoining. These have been converted into rooms - we had the ground floor one next to the breakfast area. Slightly noisy from guests above and others going to breakfast. not sure what upper rooms like - ours was one of those odd 70s French conversions with all odd proportions and colours - but decent enough, although not a period piece. Bathroom fine and shower powerful and hot. Bed super comfy. 2 Large windows opening on to gardens. Breakfast basic but decent. Owners mother comes and practices her English on you and describes tales of finishing school in Kensington - like a gentle old dowager. Not enough toiletries, towels or loo roll provided - think they're just a bit eccentric and it didn't occur to them (like the Queen eating rice crispies out of a tupperware box) but if you ferret about in the cupboards around the kitchen you can kit yourself out well enough. Fruit, pastries, teas, coffee and milk left for you to have when ever you want. Help yourself and get on with it sort of place. You can park your car inside the grounds. Relaxed and friendly. Strong reliable free wifi. Good value we thought

Eccentric sort of place.

Accommodation with a lot of charm and perfectly sufficient for the night. Clean bathroom and toilet, good bed and raw furnishings. Operator very friendly and uncomplicated.

Relax et sympathique

Only stayed one night, returning via Calais to UK. Centrally located, although not easily found due to one way systems, but quiet. Rooms are on the small size but perfectly adequate. Location means that it is close to a good range of restaurants (we chose the Bistro du Boucher) Good breakfast and secure parking (at extra cost).

Central location

I had a very pleasant stay here in the center of Douai. The host is very welcoming, friendly and helpful. The rooms are situated in a very beautiful old house, fully renovated and in excellent and charming condition. Rooms are with wooden floor with double bed and a small table in the corner (here I missed a light to be able to work better). Bathroom in brand new and in excellent condition. Internet connection very fast and good. Good sleep, as bed was very good and the garden behind the house is very beautiful and peaceful. Breakfast was fresh with fruit and very lovely choice of bread. A place to stay for people that do not like the typical hotel chains and are looking for a place a little more charming. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay and recommend this place to any kind of traveller. The theatre of Douai is just next door, the belfry is less than 5 minutes walk.
