Not to recommend among all the mess. It's been four days since no bed made everything sticks. Breakfast just falls out. Eating bad again staff very simply no idea. Cashed out is the same. Beds come in years bedding full of stains just lay corner.

Never again

The room is very old, the beds are crunchy, the cleanliness is not 100%. The breakfast is basically enough, but it really doesn't have to be backpacks! The breakfast cereal was very hard-working, but it was often asked because much was empty quickly.

Altes, German country hotel

It's a very nice, cozy hotel, we've spent two nights there, very clean and nice staff, breakfast for the price is great, not too far from the Kalkberg festivals, we'll definitely be back.

Small but fine

We went to the Karl May games and stayed at the Hotel Zur Buchen. The distance is perfectly fine, 12 kilometers on the B 206 and you're there. The hotel is clean, the reception is friendly, the breakfast is of good standard. We didn't lack anything. Performance is better than the price, so we'd like to have 4 stars.

Good for two nights.

The hotel is kept very simple, only to be used for a good night's sleep when you go to an event in Bad Segeberg, the rooms are 70s style and the breakfast is absolutely simple... not to be used for holidays.

We can't afford a good night's sleep - that's all!

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this hotel at all. Strangely enough, the sign ADAC recommended hangs at the entrance, which amazes me very much. The shower in the bathroom is completely unusable: the sliding doors are curved and slanted sideways, are almost motionless, the shower head is totally loose, an incredible freakishness! The old cheap TV did not work at all in the evening and was not turned on until the morning. One of the two separate beds generated different sounds with each small movement. The bill cannot be paid by credit card. If you want to have breakfast after 8:30am, you are checked, so there is nothing for comfortable long-term rentals. The breakfast is made of almost complete, easy-to-use food.

It's disappointing.

This is the place to choose if you want a nice place to stay and like to feel cheated!
Although the booking site clearly said “free breakfast, free wi-fi and free parking”, the first thing they said at check in, was that we had to pay extra for the breakfast. Even when we showed them our confirmation where the free breakfast was noted, as well as the booking site, they were stubborn and demanded payment for the breakfast. They just showed us a paper from Hotels.com that said “without breakfast”. Can it really be so, that Hotels.com says one thing to the customers and another thing to the hotels? How can we trust the site then?
Our next surprise was when they denied payment by card, even though they said in the ad, that it should be ok. We were told to take the car to a petrol station down the road, to get money there. Their explanation was that the equipment was new and didn’t work yet. But if you read old reviews, you can see that this is an old trick, to avoid card fees. Another woman said that the problem was the internet connection in the area. Strange, because the wifi in the room worked fine!
It’s a pity, really, that they behave like this, because the place itself was nice and the breakfast was good!

Nice, BUT....

It is a bit outdated hotel with no noise protection towards the very busy road. You feel you are sleeping at the road side which you in fact are. Traffic starts at 05 and sleep is over. 
Friendly staff and country side breakfast. You get what you need for breakfast. 
If you bring earplugs the hotel is okay for a single night on you way. 
This is the 3 time I stay here. 

Noisy road

We stayed 4 days here with my colleagues, actually by accident as we couldn't get a hotel in Hamburg due to the large number of visitors to the expo. 

It is a very clean, very relaxed hotel in a small town, nice country-side in the area. 
The hotel is run by a husband and wife, both speaking very good English. They are helpful and friendly, like to have a little chat with all their guests. 

Breakfast is very good and plenty (of course not a 5 star, but very good to the price level). Internet wifi is not very fast but free. 

In general pricing of the rooms is a very good value in the area.
