We stayed at La casa di Lucia for about 9 weeks, from late April 2014 till late June 2014, and had a perfect stay. The house is located in a perfect little village, Castelmuzio which have all you need to live the Tuscan dream. 
There are two restaurants and a COOP which will provide you with anything you will need on a daily basis. The people of the village are very welcoming and we travelled with two small girls which gave us special treatment almost everywhere.
The village is surrounded by a beautiful landscape and with great possibilities for hiking and day trips to some of Tuscany´s many beautiful hill top towns. The area is also perfect for biking, if you accept hilly terrain you will have many lovely rides along the small roads in the area.
From the view point in the village, you will have panoramic view over Montepulciano, Pienza and Montalcino, all villages within 10-30 minutes drive, and worth a visit.
The house have all you would need for your stay, and the owner have an agreement with their own Mr and Mrs Fix-It in the village that would help you out if there are any problems at all. The house has a beautiful roof terrace with barbecue, perfect for sunny days and late evenings, with a view towards the ancient town centre.

Perfect location

Our stay at La casa di Lucia was lovely.  The location and price were perfect to allow us to feel like we were living the Tuscan life.  We hiked in the mornings, bought food for lunch from the village coop (and lovely Carla) and walked to leisurely dinners in Montici.  The local Taverna was lovely as well, and especially Paula the manager there.  She made us feel like locals.  Everything we needed right there in Castelmuzio.  We spent two weeks.  The first week was for daily excursions to the nearby villages and the second week for just pretending we were Tuscan.  We got in the swing of including a daily siesta which has followed us home.  So lovely.  The whole town gets quiet during the siesta time and starts to hum as people get about their afternoon routine.  The accommodations were lovely.  We especially liked bbq's on the terrace overlooking the town.  The bedroom views overlooked the Tuscan countryside.  Thanks for a lovely get away Lucia.

We love Castelmuzio

I stayed in Casa di Lucia (also known as Casa Castelmuzio) from September 4, 2011 until December 4, 2011.  My objective was to live like a local in beautiful Tuscany.  The house is ideally situated for taking day trips to nearby hill towns such as Siena, Pienza, Montipuliciano, Montalcino and even San Giminagio.  It is also an easy drive to Florence with plenty of free parking at Piazalle Michelangelo.
The house is a mix of modern and antiques.  The sleek new kitchen is tiny but well equipped . The furnishings are comfortable but not extravagant.  The house does not have wood beamed ceilings, frescoed walls or a large open fireplace, so if that is what you are looking for, I would suggest Isabella’s properties next door.  However, the house does have a wood burning fireplace, space for 6 at the dining table, 3 double bedrooms and 2 full (showers only) bathrooms. It does not have a telephone or internet service. The house does not have bug screens on the windows but it really was not an issue.  It does have a dishwasher and a washing machine.  The best feature of this property is its value.  It is significantly less expensive than other properties for rent in the area.  It is an excellent value for the money.
 The owner, Lucia lives in Sienna and was quick to help when I contacted her or to have things repaired when they didn’t work properly.  Lucia’s daughter Cathy and her husband have a property downstairs from the house and she was very helpful as well.  The family owns a farm close by and her father brought me wood for the fireplace whenever I needed it.  The family even invited me to have dinner with them one Sunday in October.  They are all very warm and friendly with limited english.
The town of Castelmuzio is enchanting.  It really is an authentic ancient hill town with spectacular views of the beautiful valleys and hills surrounding it.  The town has a hotel which is the local meeting place and offers the only public access to the internet.  I was fortunate to be there on several evenings when the locals gathered to watch a soccer game on the big screen and enjoy pizza made by a chef who comes all the way from Naples for these events.  The town also has a lookout point, complete with benches where one can sit with a glass of wine and watch the magnificent sunsets.  The little Co-op down the hill sells local produce, cold meats, milk, fresh eggs and bread as well as most other necessities.  The locals are warm and friendly and always greeted me with a buona sera or buon giorno.  There is an ATM in the village which is part of most banking networks so fees for withdrawals are not expensive.  Be aware that in Italy you cannot withdraw more than 250 euros in one transaction, but you can perform multiple transactions.
I would recommend Casa di Lucia to anyone wanting to experience what life in Tuscany is really like in these ancient hilltowns.  Cell phone reception is spotty at best but I found that if I walked down the hill towards the Co-op and sat on the park bench in the shade the reception was good, and the view was spectacular.

Escape to Tuscany 2011

We spent a week in this beautiful Tuscan apartment,however there was no terrace or balcony and we found ourselves sitting outside our front door on the main road to have our wine!  It was completely repainted and renovated with lovely antique furnishings and very comfortable.  We are not sure whether this apartment has changed owners as we never did see or meet Lucia.  As a result we had no one to contact for advice or suggestions as to what we might see and do locally,as originally promised in emails..  A lady by the name of Cathy(who spoke no English) was very fast to come and  collect the rent and after that we had no further contact with anyone, even when we checked out!  We were disapponted that we did not have the local support that we had been led to believe would be forthcoming.  Despite that the village is really beautiful and well situated for exploring southern Tuscany.  Castelmuzio is very tiny & quiet with one local restaurant/bar and a Coop grocery which supplied the basics.  There is a more upscale wine bar and restaurant on the edge of the village with very excellent food and hospitality and an amazing view from their terrace.

Our stay at Casa di Lucia October 2011

The apartment is charming, with a large living room, a new and well equipped kitchen, well furnished rooms and a terrace overlooking the village perfect for sunbathing and eating. The reception was friendly and very courteous. On our arrival we found the breakfast basket with a good homemade crostata and the fireplace access.

Just returned from Tuscany and stayed at La Casa di Lucia. It was perfectly quaint, perfectly located for tooling around hill towns, perfectly sized and of course Lucia was perfectly wonderful.

When we arrived Lucia and her family greeted us. They were very warm and generous. We were provided with a fabulous tart, wine, pici (pasta), juice, olivie oil from Lucia's farm and other goodies. 

There is a very new updated Italian modern kitchen. Although it is small, it lacks for nothing. There is a five burner stove, dishwasher, toaster oven and even a washer/dryer. The three bedrooms were very roomy. My room as well as the room on the main floor had a view of the hill town Montisi. 

Loved the location. We were looking for a small hamlet in the center of the towns we wanted to visit. It is 10 minutes from Pienza, 20 from Montacino and Montepulciano. 

If you are looking for a hill town that is charming, small and in a great location then this may be for you. If you want a bigger town with many restaurants, bars, ammenities without driving then this may not suit. For us it was absolutely perfect. Thank you Lucia!!
