Visited on a Saturday lunchtime for afternoon tea with a friend. On booking, dietary requirements were checked and then brought forward to the afternoon tea. Sandwiches were delicious, fresh, and well filled. Choice of teas, refilled as we wanted. Cakes - great selection and also delicious. 
Fabulous building, looks great inside, clean and well looked after. 
Staff very helpful and friendly. 
I haven't been here for many years but I recommend it and will definitely go back! 
Afternoon tea is worth the money. Also we got there at midday and left about 2.30 but weren't rushed at all.

Truly scrumptious afternoon tea! 😋

Booked a table at the Scole Inn Hotel several days before however on arrival they had no idea of the booking.  The Bar and kitchen staff were extremely busy all night and seemed very flustered. It was obvious that a shortage of staff led to the poor service. We were told there was a 20 minute wait for food upon ordering. Food arrived two hours later. One dish was so dry and tasteless it was inedible. We have been here before and found it all very satisfactory however this visit was the opposite. We live locally and will not go again. It is a beautiful establishment with a fine ambience but the issues left us with a poor taste in the mouth.

Poor food and terrible service

First time back in a long time, the previous occupants had changed what is such a beautiful old inn. I did a search to see if it was still the same and luckily it has been taken over by someone else. I called Yannais on reception to check and ended up booking a nights stay. 
The hotel is near enough back to how it should look, lots of decoration has been done, the whole pub/restaurant/rooms are all now repainted and looking superb. 
Made to feel welcome as soon as we booked in. Given lots of advice regarding booking an evening table, we ended up eating there as the menu has so much to choice from. Had plenty of drinks and was surprised of how it was not too expensive, unlike the mini bar contents in the room - didn’t have anything. Breakfast was done as a buffet as had many people staying, this was great as you could pick what you wanted, and how many/much you wanted, even went out of their way to do fresh toast when I asked. 
So happy the place as gone back to what I know of it - we will be returning and soon!

So happy it’s back to how it was - superb stay 

Was travelling and staying 4 nights due to work. 

Upon arrival thr Hotel looks beautiful  was extremely impressed. The staff was lovely and welcoming.

However, we are working 15 hour days. Due to an issue with the room it meant it took 'pure graft' to simply run and empty a bath adding 3 additional hours to our work day. There was also no drain hole on the bath alongside a toiletry shelf, said shelf was wonky throwing all of our personal items for higene literally down the toilet.

Following this I finally complained. God bless the staff so apologetic for the errors of management of which they was clearly always blamed for. Upon inspecting the room he made a personal call to the owner. 

He stated. "They can have a complimentary bottle of wine"  staying here for four nights adding hours to a work day per person. 

What a selfish guy. It has to be a guy because no woman would ever throw their work team under a bus. Only a man dead set on his money would not care for adding 4 additional hours onto that work day. 

We had an alternative option of changing rooms for 1 night. However we would have to go back tomorrow as their fully booked. 

Personally I would avoid at all costs. Treated this way on a work stay is horrendous adding long hours to a work day. 

This treatment on a personal holiday I would be mortified.

Also the food. Absolutely awful. However, personal preference. Personally I feel the standard of food represents the owner. Its cheap. The meat is beyond bad. A stu served with mash and veg was so dry to the point it was left. 

I'd give 0 stars if not for the lovely staff.

Friendly staff clean room powerful shower good food comfy bed crisp pint of beer what more could you ask for I will say it was very warm last night in the room even more so because the shower extractor didn’t work (Room 20) I optimistically ventured to reception at 10pm to see if they had a spare fan  unfortunately they didn’t have one but the lovely lady at reception gave me the fan from reception will definitely be staying here again next time I’m working in the area when you consider big chain hotels are  twice the price and not as nice

Great stay for work

Room very basic, bed uncomfortable. Not worth the price
Breakfast took over an hour to come out after ordering. No yoghurt or fruit on the continental breakfast. Tea and coffee very very weak.
Lovely building in a quiet location.
But unfortunately wouldn't stay again 

Average at best, use as last resort 

WOW... this is an unbelievable place to stay with my wife for the weekend. The Scole Inn is steeped in history and myth and dates back to 1655. I stayed in Nelsons room which was huge and had a massive 4 poster bed. The room overlooked the front of the building and was sited next to Emmas Room which boasts a friendly ghost if there is ever such a thing. The room was very clean and comfortable and i could not fault it whatsoever The food at breakfast and in the evening was amazing and was plentifull and extrenely well cooked and presented. I had the "Chicken Lover" pasta dish which was to die for as was the pasta and lamb meatballs. The staff and owners were absolutey lovely. Beccy and Soraya were just amazing and could not do enough for you. Overall we had a brilliant stay and would thoroughley recommend this hotel to everyone. Please ignore any bad reviews or negative comments and try this hotel for yourself. I know you will be impresssd like we were and like us you will return again and again....

Just WOW..... 

We went for a carvery on 30th april it was superb great value for money, the food was excellent, and the staff were great. Its a lovely old building wih a great atmosphere. Will certainly go again soon.

Sunday lunch

There was nothing to really dislike about the carvery. However not one of the four of us would recommend it either. In fact the best part of it was the excellant wooden high chair provided for our grandaughter, it was extremely sturdy and clean.
Three of our party had beef which was overdone, the one who had pork was pleased with it. The roast potatoes were a massive disappointment, the yorkshires okay and unremarkable. The vegetables were just about okay. 
The setting is nice, the prices were okay, but nothing about the food would make us want to return. 

Sunday Carvery

My partner and I recently enjoyed a delightful one night stay at this lovely hotel.

The hotel is entered from the rear of the building and presents a magnificent impression befitting it's long history, dating from before the great fire of London.

We were greeted by friendly staff who advised that our room was in the annex, a beautifully converted stable block with plenty of parking right outside.

The quality of the conversion of this stable block was immediately evident as soon as we got to our room on the first floor.

The room was well appointed and spotlessly clean as was the en-suite bathroom.

The fanlight window was open for ventilation but once closed the small radiator soon had the room toasty warm even on a cold March day.

We had booked dinner, bed and breakfast so made our way to the dining room.

The dining room was bright and fresh although on this Sunday evening there was only one other table seated.

I had very tasty chicken wings to start followed by a very nice plate of slow roasted pork with assorted vegetables.

My partner chose the lasagne as her main course and strawberry and black pepper pavlova for desert, both deemed very tasty.

Drinks were very reasonably priced.

We found our bed to be extremely comfortable with fresh crisp linen sheets and a comfortable duvet. A very good nights sleep was had.

Breakfast was excellent. We were able to choose from a selection of juices, cereals, tea, coffee etc on a self serve basis. We both ordered the full English breakfast from our waiter and were not disappointed. All the usuals, piping hot and very tasty, the sausage being particularly good.

Overall a very enjoyable stay and good value for money.
