My partner and i stayed 2 nights here last weekend just for a mini break away.  We arrived at the hotel and parked in the hotel car park, check in was smooth enough.  First imo our stay i can only say were we very happy.  The room we had was a bit on the small side however it was spotlessly clean and adequate for everything we needed so no complaints there from us.  I was a bit doubtful after reading reviews on here however i think if you manage your expectations which we did, you will be pleasantly suprised. First night there we didn't eat in the hotel as we were meeting family elsewhere however we did have drinks and i'd say the bar is well stocked with a great selection of drinks. Day 2 we had a cooked breakfast which was lovely, not an over complicated menu either, good selection of cereals, drinks and toast.  We had nibbles at lunch time again very nice.   Evening time we booked a meal starters and mains, portion size was good and quality of food was good also.  I had a bottle of wine with my meal which was really nice, normally i find house wines quite tart but this was lovely.  Only complaints that we did have during dinner was there was no beef/steaks available and the service to start with was quite slow.  We booked our 1st night on a voucher and for what we paid it was exceptional value, the second night was booked separately and again great value.  Greg who works there is well worth his salt, he works hard and does his best to provide an excellent service,  id like to think hes a valued member of the team.  All in all we had a great stay, i believe the hotel is a work in progress and i fully believe that good things are on the horizon so much so that we have booked the hotel next year for our wedding guests.

Great service

This hotel isn't nearly as nice as the pictures taken!! There was no heating, my room (which I found out was the bridal suite) was right next to the toilets for the restaurant so a lot of noise and heavy smell of toilet freshener. The couch was ripped and very stained as was the carpet. Light falling out of ceiling and no tv remote.
Organised a family dinner on Saturday night, steaks were extremely over cooked, almost like they had been reheated. Ran out of white wine (had one left but already opened), mayonnaise, sirloin steak!! 
Breakfast the next day took almost 2.5 hours!!! Ordered coffees and after 20 mins one arrived and it was a tea. Food served and forgot toast, it finally make out 10 mins after we had finished breakfast and was cold. 
This hotel was like Fawlty Towers but worse, definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone

Avoid

After reading the reviews we were dreading the night away it had been given to us as a gift. The rooms are dated but very clean, our meal was lovely the staff are friendly. We had drinks in the bar where there is a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Made to feel very welcome. I would recommend and return.

Fantastic overnight stay

My family had the misfortune of booking my fathers post-funeral reception at Drummonds in Markinch. The bar was closed and patrons had to go through to the lounge to get service. People mistakenly bought their own drinks because bar staff didn’t inform them of the first drink of their choice. No one came to the tables to take a drinks order until my sister asked. The toilets were terrible and the sandwiches weren’t much better. Overall a huge disappointment.

Post Funeral Reception

We came for lunch which was ok not the best but the drinks were poor and toilets didn’t have any toilet roll and doors were off hinges. Puts you off coming only place left in markinch for locals and it is disappointing. Shame really as it was the place to go.

Not the best

I have just returned from a very enjoyable family get together to celebrate a wedding at this Hotel ..... 
I have to say if i had had the choice , i would have left after the  the 1st few hours ,,,, 

The room was freezing as the heating was not available in our room . .this was on a very cold weekend , They gave us a small heater that oscillated from it's position on a table ....It was really inadequate for the size of the room ... I visited several other rooms where family members were staying and they had warmth from radiators that were working...
The towel rail didn't work in the bathroom either, although it was showing up as on !!
There was no plug in the washbasin ... I did report this and the fact that one of the lights wouldn't come on  to the manager ... neither was sorted during our stay.! 
We had paid upfront when we arrived and queried the costs as they weren't as we had expected them to be . This was supposed to have been a special rate because we were wedding guests of the couple marrying at the hotel  ... we paid as requested  as we deemed it to be fair enough at the time ,,,
We had a cooked breakfast the 1st morning ...but on the morning of our departure had to make do with a continental help ourselves affair because the chef had failed to show due to having " missed her train ".... 
We are now home and will not be staying or recommending  this hotel to anyone !!!


Terribly uncomfortable stay..!!

I will skip over terrible issues and go to mega dreadful.Loud Techno music from 9pm until after 5am ,Our 
Room above bar. Booked with Wowcher,co owner said bar closed at 1am,only night porter on duty.Oh really,maybe it was the ghost of Christmas past! Think bar staff having a good time to themselves.I do NOT tell untruths.,but thank you for full refund.

Not OYO it is OMG

The staff, atmosphere, over night rooms, food and drinks could not have been better. Excellent service and they went out their way to make our stay very special. Well worth the money and can highly recommend! Pauline & John Brook

Family get together

Went to Drummonds as have been many times in the past and food and atmosphere have been good , not tonight though , noticed as soon as we went in the place wasn’t very busy that should have been a sign 
The table had not properly been cleared , the mushrooms on toast starter was ok but could have been hotter , the Thai green curry was tasteless and I couldn’t eat it all 
The menu was very basic compared to before afraid won’t be back again good down hill   Big time

Date night

Decided to try here for lunch on Monday as it was my birthday, seemed a nice menu but perhaps a set price lunch menu would be a good idea, and bring more people in.
AStarters- my mum had pate, she said it was ok, I had prawn cocktail, it arrived with burnt sourdough toast, i couldn't even chew the prawns. They were rubbery, and had a bit of a funny colour to the ends of them, had they been defrosted In a microwave perhaps? 
We weren't asked how things were until the server came to clear our plates, she took them back to kitchen and said she would take them off bill, which she did. 
Mains- they were ok,  I ordered macaroni cheese, doesnt come with anything so ordered a side of fries, dont think I wouldn't have bothered if I had realised they were £3.45 for a bowl of french fries. 
Steak pie was ok but the veg had a very strong garlicky flavoured dressing on it, and the chips perhaps were a bit too chunky, possibly not to everyone's taste, especially if not cooked perfectly.
Only other thing to let it down was the cold, we were sitting in the lounge and it was so cold, actually wanted to sit with our jackets on.
