Oljato–Monument Valley

The place is unique in the world so there are no stars to evaluate it; it cannot fit into any of the human canons. More than a stay is a mystical experience because spending the sunset, night and dawn here is a real life experience. I have written a review on the Valley in this regard. the 2 stars are, more humanly, the review of the CAMPGROUND services i.e. what we would call camping. we have traveled for about 12 days with a trailer of about 10 meters, we have visited many different campsites and we have seen are the American standards. this is not a campsite. this is an open space, without any minimum service, i.e. a salty tent available for a fee (and here we are, we're alone, it's a good place to live).

Review of the campaign

A night at the Premium Valley Rim Csbin is a unique experience! The direct view of sunrise and sunset is overwhelming and simply breathtaking. The cabins are comfortable and well equipped.

An indescribable and unique experience

I stayed in one of the cabins in the front row (Valley Rim Premium View) spectacular view, comfortable and well optimized room, small for 4 but ideal for 2 people, with a nice porch, comfortable beds and acceptable cleanliness. Breakfast made in the main body of the hotel was in line with what I expected, abundant even with a limited choice. Dinner was our pleasure and expensive neche, less than $30 per person. Sure for the price of the rooms you could expect something extra for both breakfast and dinner but the view you enjoy everything.

The show

Absolutely magical. We slept at the campsite because we had our own tent. Exceptional view, we were in the front row. Access to toilets and showers, excess price of 74 dollars that we absolutely do not regret, we even extended for one night. Lunch at the restaurant which is quite satisfying. Free WiFi in the restaurant and hotel lobby.

It's amazing.

Our cabin was in the front row, with a completely open view of Monument Valley. Interior space optimized to the best, a small kitchen, a tiny but well-organized bathroom, a room with a castle bed and a small window. A truly unforgettable living room.

Unforgettable

We spent one night in these cabins and honestly it wasn't terrible It was a chilling heat despite the very noisy climate The overlapping beds are a board and a mattress and despite the climate it's chilling We didn't sleep at night I don't quite understand the concept of microwave cabins but nothing else So no blankets, plate, stove etc. So nothing is useless to have a room. Maybe to get you to go to their delicious cafeteria at exorbitant prices, to eat dirty stuff in plastic... something very not terrible A small terrace to admire the same view.. So the rocks are pretty expensive everywhere.

Not terrible... maybe a simple visit to the site without sleeping on site is enough

We stayed in a cabin, and we were happy enough there. One bed (plus two bunk beds), enough plugs, a desk, a shower/bath, a microwave, and a small fridge. No TV if you care. We didn't.  It was small, but it all worked. Wifi too.

We had a fine view outside the window, but there were cabins in our line of sight. Not really a problem, but if you want a totally unobstructed view, you need a cabin with a number in the 20's. We were in the teens.

The cabins are good enough

The cabins at the view were a wonderful place to stay on our USA Road trip! The cabin was comfortable and clean and had everything we needed, and the view were just breathtaking. We woke up early, made a coffee from the coffee maker in the room and watched the sunrise. All staff were friendly and helpful and the gift shop was great, so many beautiful hand-made navajo items as well as classic souvenirs. We even were given a $20 gift voucher on arrival which was a lovely touch. 
Dinner was delicious, homemade traditional navajo dishes as well as some more classic dishes. Plus there was breakfast included in the stay which was a surprise to us. Good selection of the usual stuff- cereal, muffins, pancakes, bacon, eggs.

A brilliant stay, would definitely recommend!

Breathtaking views

Spectacular location. You are visiting Navajo Tribal land. There is a park entrance fee, separate to the cost of accommodation and the National Parks pass is not valid for Monument Valley. Cash is not accepted, only credit card. Entry in May was $8 per person.

The reception for the cabins is in a demountable just past the entrance to the loop trail. There is a sign on the glass door stating only one person in the office at the time. I had my head bitten off for leaving the door open with the A/C on. It wasn't hot outside, so it didn't cross my mind someone would be using the A/C. I went to check in at 3:19pm, check in is at 4pm. I was told the cabin was not ready and then was told she would not tell me any further information as the booking was in my husband's name. Was told she would send an email when the room was ready. I explained we were struggling to access emails and had to ask twice for a text to be sent instead.  She was so very rude. Less then 10 minutes later, we received a text to advise the cabin w as ready.

We stayed in cabin 2. It was large and spacious, with a bed in the back room, bunk beds in the 'hallway' which was also the entrance to the bathroom. The lounge area had a spectacular view out to the valley. There was a sofa bed in the lounge, a small round dining area and a kitchenette. The fridge was full size. Although there was a convection oven and a microwave, there was absolutely nothing to use in the kitchen. Not a a bowl, not a plate, cup, saucer, not even a spoon. Zilch! You will need to bring equipment with you. In fact the plate inside the convection oven was missing, which kind of renders it useless. Having read other reviews we came prepared with a light meal. There is a balcony and is lovely to sit out on, but be prepared for other people to come and sit out in front of your cabin to take photos. 

For a group who requests you have short showers due to locals having to bring in their water, it blows my mind the bathroom included a bath tub, the toilet is full flush - no half flush option - and the kitchen plug did not fit, so the utensils I brought with us were washed while wasting water.

We were able to enter the scenic drive early morning, missing the crowds, so this was a massive bonus. The cabin was quiet, it was comfortable and the view of course was simply awesome. 

A very special place to visit

The place was exceptionally clean and easy access. We read the reviews prior to this trip and were skeptical but once we got there, we were surprised how clean and simple it was, especially the restroom with shower. The registering was easy, and she was very friendly yet professional. I wish people would write correct reviews instead of finding faults and misguide others with their complaining. After all this place is in the middle of nowhere and only limited with some convenience. We had a wonderful time visiting with needed accesses as camper. We were extremely happy with our visit except the road to tour was rough but that's expected, I guess. Stargazing there was exceptionally great!
