We were lucky enough to stay overnight for only one night. There were electrical cables uncovered, the windows were broken, the windows were dirty, the toilet was dirty, a staircase in the middle of the floor that led to a terrace and an open door, and the doors were sloppy. Outside the parking lot looked like a dump.

Highly recommended.

the room is dirty, but not disgusting - sheets are fresh and clean and room has been cleaned recently but not on our day of arrival...
Hotel  is really run-down and could do with some easy fixing and paint...
Room was a non-smoker room but you can smell it hasn't been always one.
the wing was not locked during night and we were happy to have a lock on the door...
Rooms are noisy and visitors are as well

But in time of need that was good enough. Any other room in Dortmund still available was double the price. So you either cough up the extra money or you accept the state...

as expected when reading the other bad comments

This hotel offers solid rooms at affordable prices. You have your own bathroom with shower and a flat-screen TV in the room. (In this price class you can only find a bed in the bedroom with community bath elsewhere) The staff were very nice and friendly. The breakfast was very tasty and surprisingly varied, this is what I can only recommend. Although there are punctual renovations, they don't really bother you. I was amazed by the negative ratings here, which I find very exaggerated. Whoever booked in this price class can't expect a 4 star standard...

Price / performance is great.

Despite the friendly personal and the facilities, the hotel is really poor.
Already when one arrives at the parking area cannot avoid to notice the many garbage bags accumulated on the sides.
The room is spartan and was very cold and also after few hours with the heating on max the situation didn't change so much.
In the bathroom there was a very little square window and only a dim ceiling lamp, no mirror light, so it was difficult to shave in the morning.  
Behind the bed was full of old dust and the power cable for the TV went behind the working radiator. The concept of cleanliness is somewhat approximate
With its fridge-cold food, the breakfast reflected the same standards of the room... on the tables still some rests of the previous guests.
At the least the guy at the reception was kind!

A last minute solution

The only thing this place had going for it was it's friendly staff on reception. They were very interested in us and very approachable. 

We stayed here for 4 nights, and the entire time we stayed here there was a local crazy man who was screaming at the top of his voice. He screamed very late at night and very early in the morning... which drove us crazy. 
The walls were paper thin and the corridor was very echoey. So we heard every move anyone made.

The room was not cleaned before we got here, so we had the previous persons bed sheets and towels. We were never offered new towels or new bedsheets. Everything was broken and unclean.

Breakfast was ok, but was often cold, despite us being there on time. 

We stay in a lot of hotels for our job, but this has to be the worst place we have ever stayed. This place almost drove me to tears.

Never a moment of silence 

The fact that a Hotel 2-star hotel slanders itself like this is a freakishness. The hallways to the rooms smell modest. Part of the plugs are out of the walls. The rooms are extremely unclean. Here, apparently, the bed linen is not cleaned or washed (not defined stains in the bed). Wet towels from the shower are not exchanged and left lying. In the room it also smells modest and shiny. Furniture is partly muddy (e.g. shower head, doorstock, storage in the bathroom). The hotel was booked for 2 nights, however, we cancelled our trip after 1 night, as it was easy to sleep disgustingly in the beds, where you can still feel every single frost. I also expected a price of about €43 for a room, but you should not go for a lot.

Shyness. Not recommended under any circumstances

I've read the reviews of the visitors so far, but I've ignored them for myself because I think some reviews are exaggerated. I wish I'd drawn my conclusions from this. This hotel is by far the worst I've seen in a long time. It's dirty, shady and completely inhabited, and I've had to pay a three-fold surcharge for the football game. Only the bathroom: tiles loose, no lampshade (any lighting agent), shower shady and with broken or missing shower doors. The curtain in the lounge/sleep room would have been dark, but this one probably hasn't seen any water. The bedroom in the bedroom had a burning hole, but I couldn't feel the fire in the bathroom, but I can't remember the math about the night before.

For the purposes of this Decision

We slept an hour longer than scheduled for breakfast so we weren't allowed to have breakfast near public transport.

Primitive, profiteering from the fair, friendly.

So you can drink a lot of good things, but it really goes too far! Stranger hair on the (probably not freshly dressed) bed, foul bath, smell like inside a bar, just unreasonable! The low price per night is obvious... and it's not worth a penny. We thankfully turned down breakfast! If it looks the same in this kitchen as the rooms, you've got the good fortune to stay in the hospital! Never again!!!
