The rooms are simple and functional. We were able to park our motorcycles in the backyard under a roof in the sand. There was no breakfast buffet. It was necessary to eat what was on the plate. It was possible to get a snack. Unfortunately, getting an espresso for breakfast was not possible because the hostess did not want to set up the machine for me. The covered outdoor terrace is comfortable. I ordered the burger, which looked delicious and is sure to be freshly prepared for you.

Motorcycle tour through Lower Saxony

We had a birthday dinner at the Baumhaushotel. We came here because of the lack of alternatives (Monday evening) and were very pleasantly surprised! Friendly welcome, kind and attentive service and very good dinner (sparcel classic with snitzel, sausage with hot potato salad)! We would always come back for dinner, highly recommend. We cannot rate the hotel operation because it is not used.

I was in the town of Uslar for a wedding and myself and some of my fellow guests stayed here.

Although the people running the hotel are very nice, very helpful and (thankfully) spoke decent enough English, I didn’t really enjoy staying in this hotel much.  Apart from the painfully slow WiFi and a large flat screen TV, there is nothing at all within the hotel itself that seems in any way modern.  In fact, I don’t think that this hotel could have changed very much at all in the last 50 years.

But… in writing an honest review, what did I really expect here?  

A 5-star resort hotel?  

An ultra-modern boutique hotel?

Not really, just something a bit more up to date and a few creature comforts.  The towels are thin and a little austere and if the pile on the carpets were any shorter it would quality as lino.

There’s not even the sort of tea/coffee maker that you’d expect in almost any US or UK hotel.

Hotel Fröhlich-Höche is a traditional, German, country hotel and for people that like that sort of thing, I suppose this would all be fine.  

It’s quiet.  The beds are comfortable.  There is lots of wood and brown colours.

The part of town the hotel is in is well outside of Uslar and had I had to spend much more time here I would have been very bored indeed.  There didn’t appear to be any shops in the area at all.  Certainly none someone of my age (68) could have walked to.

In precis, this is a decent but very old fashioned hotel that didn’t really suit me much.

The hotel: When we arrive, we also get our car in the parking lot next to the hotel. A waitress looks out of the kitchen, sees us with our suitcases in the hallway, and ignores us at first. Then we walk through a nice little garden and get to the hotel above the parking lot. Then we stand there, well, just before the kitchen, and no other sign shows us how to get to the reception. It's okay for one night, but it's better.

As in last year, we went to our family-owned restaurant at the Hotel Fröhlich-Hoch to eat. But without table reservations, it would have been difficult on Pentecost Sunday. The staff were very friendly in their burschoic way. Extras were not a problem when ordering food. The food, especially the asparagus, was back.

We were at a birthday party for one night at the hotel. We were very friendly. The rooms were just getting old. But everything was clean and the bed was comfortable. The breakfast was refreshing and tasty. Since the birthday party was in the same hotel, we were more than surprised by the food on offer. An excellent kitchen. Simple tip. Little vermouth drops: the room and bathroom were not heated on arrival and the temperature was around freezing.

Positively surprised

The interior of the restaurant is a bit aged, but it's a bit comfortable. The staff is friendly and competent. But the best part is the quality of the food. The dishes from the seasonal auerochsen menu are sensational. The meat is tender and lean with excellent beef taste. Very recommended is the golas with buns.

Not trendy, but delicious

We were on vacation in Lower Saxony and we were at the restaurant today for the Happy High dinner. The food was very delicious, we had three different dishes, the potatoes could have been a little more crunchy for me, but the rest was very good, including the salad plates. Price-performance ratio is also good. The portions are absolutely ok. Nice again.
