We booked a standard room in this hotel in October 2017 for the period from 26 to 28 February 2018 i.e. six months ahead. And in the booking comment, there was a wish - two separate beds. A month before we settled, we duplicated the letter of wishes. When we settled in the hotel, we were offered a room with a single bed, with one set of clothes, a completely discharged room, with dust on the bumpers, diapers in the window frame and a view of the toilet! To our indignation, the reception staff replied that there was no other option for today, you can try moving tomorrow.

It's disgusting.

Great trip, when we arrived we got upgraded as I was pregnant and they wanted to make our stay as comfortable as possible, we got upgraded from a standard room to a suite which was amazing. Room was spacious and had a hot tub. Staff were lovely. Hotel was in the process of being reinvated but was fine. Hotel was central to everything, would Defo go back 

Amsterdam trip

Its just ok, in spite of great location and near park and canal the place is just average. True is they were redecorating and lobby was in a mess but staff was tense and overwhelmed so zero friendly and a bit rude. Great breakfast though, gym great too but the hotel it needs to update and relax

Average and bad timing

For me first time to stay in this hotel. Unfortunately ground floor is on renovation, so we could not enjoy bar. Minimum facility in the room and quite comfortable with calm environment. Only minus was wifi access. Maybe it is only my room but very weak connection. So I should go to ground floor and get access. It is only one point to be improved. Staff is so kind and recommend to stay there for sightseeing and for business. To access to the center of city and to the airport is just take bus in front of hotel.

Best location to enjoy stay in Amsterdam

After months of looking forward to this holiday, we arrived at the hotel to be greeted by renovation works! If we received an email letting us know what would be happening we would have prepared ourselves. Getting around was challenging because the only accessible lift only went up to the 6th floor, our room was on the 7th floor! To top it all off there was a foul odour as we opened the door to our room! It lingered for the whole stay! The floor was badly scuffed and the sofa was badly stained! We decided to splash out on the superior room but there was absolutely nothing superior about it. This hotel is listed as a 4* establishment but I wish I spared myself the disappointment and stayed elsewhere...

NH Amsterdam Centre, Astonishingly Average

Arrived at the hotel today, check in is after 3pm which is extremely late in the day. Waiting in the queue for reception for over 30 minutes was just ridiculous.    Rooms are clean but not bright and airy as shown in their photos. Location is pretty good, close to the city centre for shopping and nightlife. 
To be 'Anne' Frank, it's a very 2 star hotel but for £150+ per night I would expect much more!! 

Very average

Very conveniently located, next to the Leidseplein Square. Close to bars, restaurants, museums,...to walk or by tram to anywhere You can take a canal tour from there.The heating on very cold days was great.The lower part was under construction, although already finishing.

Very well situated.

Partner and I were very concerned by the most recent reviews as they were mostly negative. So much so that we e-mailed the hotel a couple days before our stay to make sure that the heat was actually working and made some other requests. I was assured that the heat was working and our requests will be honored. We arrived on an early morning flight and unfortunately couldn't check in earlier than 3:00pm. They did store our luggage for us which was kind of them. Our room was spacious with a comfortable king size bed, enough windows that were appreciated as we had a view of the the neighboring hotel and other businesses. It was very quiet in the hotel and we couldn't hear any traffic or noise from outside either. A very warm room that we didn't have to turn on the heat during our entire stay. The room looked much like the rooms pictured on their website and the furniture handsome.
Breakfast was delicious and filling. There were some renovations going on by the concierge desk but it wasn't a problem for us. The Concierge team was friendly and welcoming every moment we walked by the desk. 
I would like to thank everyone we interacted with for their professionalism and handling our requests promptly. Thank you for making our weeklong experience memorable and are looking forward to our time back as we will definitely stay here again.

Surprisingly pleasant!

Typical chain hotel, clean and comfortable. Polite, professional reception staff who looked very smart (think airline staff!). 
Good location, a short walk into the busy area of shops, bars and restaurants. 
Opposite end of the city from the central train station but a tram (number 1,2 or 5) will take you to Leidesplein directly opposite the hotel. 
The hotel staff very kindly gave us a nice room as we had arrived to celebrate my husband's special birthday. They put up some bunting and left us a nice piece of cheesecake with candles in and a note to say enjoy your stay. This was much appreciated. 
Our room looked out onto the side street we were not bothered by noise outside. When we arrived the temperature in the room was far too tropical, a member of staff explained the weather had recently been very cold. She turned the radiator off for us and it made it much more comfortable.
The room did show signs of a bit of wear and tear -no cover on the temperature wall control & scuffs on the floor but it was clean. The bed was huge and we found it very comfortable. Nice bathroom and shower. 
The hotel was undergoing renovation in the reception area. From what I saw this will soon be done and it will look very nice. Not sure if a bar is being built at the front too? We didn't actually see a lounge/bar area. If there was one it wasn't obvious. We would have made use of this area if we had seen it. 
We booked room only but I did plan on eating breakfast there on one of our mornings, however I felt it was too expensive at €25 each. If you want breakfast I would prepay at time of booking as it works out cheaper. 
We enjoyed our stay overall and if the price was right we would be happy to stay there again especially when the reception refurbishment is complete.
A big thanks to the reception staff, you are a credit to the hotel.

Great staff, average hotel.

Firstly, my room was an upgrade on the normal double though I did feel that the room - like most recent reviewers - did need a refurb. I don't know when it was last done but the wooden flooring showed many scratches, indentations from previous occupants. 

The bathroom was fine and the bed very comfortable. When I arrived I found a single, dusty slipper under a chair but no new slippers in the wardrobe. I mentioned this to reception - as well as the hit-and-miss of whether my coffee got replaced plus a faulty light &, to be fair,  all were put right immediately. 

They were refurbishing the front of house area so hopefully this will extend to the hotel rooms soon.

p.s. a recent reviewer mentioned getting a train to Central Station and then the tram down: NO. Simply get the 397 bus - every 10 minutes - to Leidseplein and you then walk 1 minute to the hotel.
