I took a 5.5 bus from Antalya to kongya to see the Saturday's whirling dervish dancing. And after the fantastic show I walked with several travelers in the quite street and they were heading for another place and I decided to stay for a night.And the hotel is my first choice and it seems it is the best choice at that moment.The location is so good ad it is right opposite to Mevlana museum. The working staff gave a single room at 30rira.and the room is very warm with strong central heating,and 24hours hot water available.I stayed for 2nights as I decided to explore kongya further.the only problem is that the other day there's one senior lady staff and she can't speak English and it makes the communication a little bit difficult.

I just took the train to Konya for whatever reason I don’t know except that I want to experience the train and move on to Kas.  I arrived in Konya without a hotel reservation and it was raining so I  was wet  and tired walking from Meram district to the Mevlana street, as I was looking for a budget hotel around the Mevlana Museum and to my knowledge hotels in Konya are rather expensive so I was relieved to find Otel Cinar.   I just happen to see that small red building at the corner near the Selimiye Mosque and near the museum with the “Otel” sign.

I went  in and found an elder man who without much asking checked me in and told me that the rate was 30, I was thinking euro and well I said I’m already here and tired and wet and I just came from an overnight train so I just wanted to take a rest.  Then, I found out it was Turkish Lira 30 – not euro!  Only about 14 Euro for single person.  Awesome.

I was first offered a small room with windows view of the alley on the side but I asked if there’s a room facing the mosque and museum, and I was led to the upper floor which is still being cleaned.  I did not see anyone in the hotel apart from the lady and a small girl who is cleaning the room that I was requesting – and just a couple of minutes it was ready and I liked it.

The room was simply nice, windows on both sides facing the mosque and the museum and the main road, I can see the activities down below as the room is on the 2nd floor (ground, 1st then 2nd), very clean shower/toilet and the room albeit small but enough space to move is neat with 2 small beds. It was very comfortable.

Maybe the only setback is that the room doesn't have cabinets, only small drawer and wall hooks for towel and pants/shirts. But for a couple of nights stay in Konya and at TL30, I don't really need a cabinet, maybe for those staying longer that would pose a problem, though maybe they have rooms with such(?) I did not bother to ask as I was already comfortable with my room.  Wall is painted in pink(?) with a small TV but like other small hotels in the country --  all turkish channels .  The shower is warm and wifi is available.

It's a family run hotel.  Location is really great, mevlana museum entrance is just around the corner 1 minute is all it takes to the entrance and so are most of the sights, restaurants, grocers, supermarkets, shopping mall, they are all within walking distance. Even the Aladdin Tepesi (Alaadin Hill) is walkable from the hotel. Minibuses run along the road of the hotel.

The lady and girl who clean the rooms (daughters maybe of the old folk at the reception) are smiling always - maybe because they can't communicate in english but still there's that touch of making you feel at ease, the effort to speak. And I would commend the guy (I forgot the name really, I'm bad with remembering names) is very helpful with directions with his limited english. He was always there every morning asking if he could be of help and on my checkout he asked me if I enjoyed my stay, and he wished that I’ll visit them again in the future – Inshallah!  And he gave me instruction on how to take the public bus to the otogar.   Those were some nice after-sales talks that’s lacking from other places.
I stayed for 2 nights at Otel Cinar, I wish I could stayed longer but I’ve seen a lot already.

At TL30 (no breakfast though), Otel Cinar (pronounced Chinar) is an excellent budget hotel right at the center of everything in Konya.  Very basic but for a night or two, it’s highly recommended.
