I went to London Backpackers for a short period of time only 2 nights but my stay was really good, the place is well connected to Camden Town thanks to the tube that’s 2 min far away also the staff is extremely friendly and helpful especially Nelly at the front desk

Good

I had the most peaceful stay at the hostel. The staff are friendly and help you whenever in need. George and Lili were great hosts. The facilities exceed your expectations for such a reasonable price. Even though I was hours late for my check-out the staff made sure that all my belongings were kept safely until my arrival. Will definitely miss the warm conversations and the pleasant stay. Definitely recommended! :)

One of the amazing hostels in London!

I would not recommend this place at all. You’d be better off paying more for hotel.
The staff does not show you around the facilities, they just hand you the key and expect you to know the place. I stayed for a week and its an awful experience for me. Here are some reasons, Ill put the Cons and then Pros -

Cons
• The Room has no air conditioning, it has a fan but its very hot at night so they compensate with the windows opened which lead to loud noises and there’s 9-12 people most times. There’s chewing gum sticking on the metal beds.

•At night if you cant sleep with sound, then this place you will hear loud construction, people in streets and car noises.

• Some guests you may have are disrespectful. The top bed moves the entire bed station, the first night some black guy keeps moving the bed and I got no sleep at all. The second last and last night, some Muslim guy on the top Bed keeps playing loud Music, talking and keeps moving the bed. I could barely sleep. It’s disrespectful they dont care about others in the room.

• One of the staff there is rude which gives a stare, its bad experience for newcomers esp. when they were not showed the facilities at all, I had to learn and ask questions but other staffs are quite nice and respectful. Also there’s a sign “No Stupid people” This is not welcoming at all and just rude.

• Washing machine requires 2.50£ for Washer, 2.50£ for Dryer and 50p for Soap. Thats 5.50£ each time you wash your clothes. 

• Showers are Lukewarm, the water is not hot. The toilets and showers are in the same place. There is no hair dryer in the men’s restrooms. The hand dryer is turned off sometimes and unusable.

• The place is not big as I’d imagined. Its quite small and cramped for this many people. And the key cards do not work most times.

• Its 6£ for the locks, so bring your own locks!

Pros

• The toilets are kept clean. 
• Close to Rails and Buses
• Close to small Shops
• Next to beautiful park, Hendon Park with basketball courts, football courts, tennis courts and beautiful walk path all around and there’s also a children’s playground.

Conclude 

• Staff should show guests the facilities, what is free and what is not otherwise how will they know? • Need Air conditioning at night, its too hot and opening the windows allows loud noises in •Shower is not hot enough and hand dryer should not be turned off. 

I would not recommend this place. I didnt have a great experience nor had many nights of sleep without interruptions. I can sleep with some sounds but not when the entire beds are roughly moving. The location is amazing but the Hostel is not newcomers friendly nor are the services provided. 



I would not recommend staying here even for newcomers

This place was horrible. The entire place was dirty, our room smelled like a locker room, bathrooms/showers were disgusting. We booked a 3 night stay and only stayed 2 and bought other accommodation for the 3rd night it was so bad. Highly recommend staying away from this place.

Do not stay here

The large women's dormitory is really nice, it's clean, the beds are comfortable and big, there's good organization! The building is nice and the common rooms are very nice. The people at the reception are very nice! But it's a shame that there's no refund policy, because for our first night we arrived after the hostel was closed because our plane was late and so we couldn't stay overnight at the hostel. Otherwise it was a very good experience!

What a great experience!

Not a very good experience. I got BED BUGS bites all over my body on my first night there! It's been almost 2 weeks I was there and the bites are still on me!! It's just terrible! And on top of that, the room had 18 beds and seemed like people were living there for a while (also, lots of snoring and I couldn't sleep so there's that too). It's also far from the center so it takes a lot of time to get around the city. Also you have to pay breakfast apart, which is not very convenient. Would NOT recommend this hostel and will not stay there again.

Bed bugs! Terrible experience

Hostel was stuffy and everyone was so sick. Although they had bunk with curtains which was nice to have more privacy it made it so you were breathing in the air of all the people in your bunk. The showers were also not awesome. I had to constantly hold my hand on the button to keep the water on otherwise it shut off after 15 seconds. The water was also never warmer than luke warm. The staff was very nice but the building was not. 

Least favourite hostel.

Very friendly front desk staff, but communication beforehand was aggressive and off-putting.

The booking email included big red writing saying "-AGE GUIDE: Our age guide is 18-35 in our Dorm rooms. We can occasionally make exceptions to this rule but please contact us beforehand, otherwise your booking will be cancelled on arrival and cancellation costs will apply."

NOT welcoming nor clear before booking. Putting the cost on customers is wrong - especially for a weird age based discrimination. 

Next one "NO SHOWS: YOU WILL CHARGED THE FULL AMOUNT OF BALANCE DUE.
ALL BOOKING MUST BE CONFIRMED WITHIN 24 HOURS PRIOR TO ARRIVAL. IF YOU DO NOT CONFIRM BY EMAIL THE BOOKING MAY NOT BE HELD."

 Aggressive use of CAPS (!!) and again unwelcoming. I was expecting issues when I arrived because of this email.

Aggressive emails from the hostel

Lovely staff and nice facilities, really close to the subway so it’s easy to get around!  The staff were really friendly and they take good care of your belongings and are always there to help out whenever u need them during the stay. Very nice hostel

The hostel is really only a few steps a way from hendon central, from where you can reach the city centre in no time. Everything you need is provided, amazing for the price you're paying. I do think breakfast is a bit on the expensive side, but keeping in mind that the hostel itself is quite cheap and the kitchen provides plenty of space to store your own food, it's also an understandable price. 
Do keep in mind that the kitchen is locked early in the morning, so you can plan around that.
Beds are comfortable, there is a small shelf above your bed and a storage box under your bed, in which my baggage fitted easily. If you require more space however, you can also rend a locker in the hallway. 
There are enough toilets and three showers available in the women's bathroom. I never had to wait. An improvement for the shower could be letting the water run more than 8 seconds. When you keep pushing the button however, the water will keep running. 
I would also prefer a bit more space inside the showers to store your stuff, maybe moving the shower curtain a bit backwards and placing a small shelf so you can lay some of your stuff down. Inside the shower there is place to store your shampoo etc and there's one shower hook on the door. Outside of the showers are also hooks available. 
When checking in you get a card which allows you 24/7 entry to the hostel, this gives you much freedom during your stay. 
During check out I had a really kind staff member, George, helping me. Everything was done quickly and he even could speak Dutch with me (I'm from the Netherlands), although he is not from there. That's really some extra effort, and a nice closure to my stay. Definitely recommend booking this hostel when going to London. I will come back here at my next stay.
