Stayed here for a couple of nights for a family wedding. The rooms were nice, could do with being updated slightly but had all basic necessities including a kettle. The layout of the hotel & courtyard was nice as we were staying with lots of family. The breakfast was great, very polite and accommodating staff. Thanks for a great stay!

Welcoming hotel

Me and my boyfriend have stayed here and at 9:30 I hear people outside my door speaking loud DO YOU NOT UNDERSTAND THAT PEOPLE NEED SLEEP!!! How are you going to bring someone at a extremely early time to do something right outside somebody’s room THAT WE PAYED FOR not to mention when we first got there the 2018 cookies and 2018 milk that you guys have left , the cleaners are terrible mate my boyfriend and I have eaten the cookie without even knowing it was out of date , it is your job to make sure everything is on point but it’s is not!!! The rooms upstairs you can hear people walking like elephants you can hear everything , also I would like to mention the blood stains on the radiator like are you serious? What kind of bed and breakfast is this?just a 0star really shame I couldn’t do that.

TERRIBLE!!

Staff are excellent very friendly and helpful

Place though is sad and needs lots of updates

Decor is b by old fashioned with mismatched cheap furniture.

My room was clean sheets spotless.. Bed though uncomfortable and pillows like rocks..

Parking is hit and miss they do there best to accommodate.

Is seems more like a long term hostel than a hotel..

Breakfast is OK its free and hot, very poor selection of cereals..

Is Cheap but not cheerful..

And def not three star in any way shape or form..

It could be with lots of money and effort thrown at it

I don't usually bother with Travelzoo reviews but fair is fair so here goes...I'm staying at the Fountain House Hotel right now and have to say I've been very impressed.  Okay so lets caveat that my opinion very much takes into account the room rate (I'm paying less than £50 for a single) but here it is:

Staff:  Very friendly - Joseph more than accommodating on front desk and breakfast staff happy to help.
Room: Not that bad a size for a single - bathroom clean and functional - bed comfy and TV works fine.  Tea and coffee making facilities plus a bottle of water and a biscuit too.
Location - 21 mins into London Paddington by train.  Enough said!!
Breakfast - Is free!!  Included in the price and obviously a Muslim household so those moaning about 'no bacon' and 'beef sausages' need to have a little consideration.

Right that will do me - if you want a good, budget place to stay within a spit of the big city then give The Fountain House a chance!! :)

Reviews a little harsh in my opinion - look at the price!!

I had the unfortunate chance to stay hear for work reasons all I can say was I’m glad it was only overnight 

The room was very small and has damp spots every where it smelt like foist and the decor was still stuck in the 70s 
Which was probably the last time it was renovated 
Most people say it’s good value for money but I feel ripped off that I payed to stay there. next time I will be booking a different hotel

Horrible

I stayed here and was on the first floor the room was very small. and the bathroom was also small. I had to run the shower for a few mins before the water got hot. The breakfast was average I asked for full English and there was no bacon to be seen on my plate. At least there was parking there. I am sure that the gardens will look nice in summer but alas the rest of the building does need a desperate make over

Tired building

This old building is a disappointment, the rooms are quite rundown with tatty furniture with hardly room to move. We obviously picked the wrong hotel if we wanted a traditional English breakfast, not a bacon eating place ..!! I could not recommend this place to anyone ...

George Orwell Wouldn't Approve ...

Private parking is available, which is at a premium in London, although there is also on street parking available. My room was upgraded from a single to an en suite double. The room was clean and comfortable, and I slept well. good Wi Fi is available.
Breakfast was OK, but unfortunately, no cooked breakfast option was available.
Staff were friendly and welcoming. 
This was George Orwell's former home, but this is not themed around him.
Decor is a little bit aged, but I can't really complain about that, as the price and service were very good.
I am currently working nearby this hotel, and will probably return if I need to stay over again.

Bargain Accommodation

I stayed in this hotel from 1 to 5 May 2014. My room, a double room, was very clean. The sheets smelled and the towels were changed every day and there was always a smell of candlelight. The rooms are equipped with wifi, television and there is hot water. The staff is very friendly: they apologized to me for not knowing Italian!! breakfast is included in the price and goes from sausage and beans (English snack) to that Italian cn milk, coffee, toast, butter, various fruit juices and cornetti. the bus stop is two steps away: about 20 minutes and you go to the subway from which you can reach various directions. I recommend!!
