in a good location right opposite Eden Park station and on a number of bus routes. Checking in was straightforward, staff were pleasant, helpful and efficient. The building is old but well maintained and the room was spacious and well-appointed. Comfortable bed and a good night’s sleep.   Breakfast buffet is varied and plentiful. All staff were good and requests were fulfilled promptly. Overall, a good stay and a reasonable cost for this part of London.

Excellent stay

Positives;
 My adult daughter and I stayed for 2 nights for a family party locally. We were very lucky that we were given one of the refurbished rooms. It was really nice, very comfortable and so quiet which was a surprise given its location. 
Parking was free for our two day visit which was excellent. The train station was 2 mins from hotel where we got a direct train into London which took 1/2 hour, really good. 

The negatives;

We were surprised and disappointed when we got up the first morning for breakfast looking forward to a continental breakfast only to be told that had to be ordered the night before. That made no sense to us whatsoever as we’ve heard of a full English breakfast having to be prebooked in some establishments but never a continental?? Very strange. We hadn’t seen a sign anywhere. Neither of us wanted a cooked breakfast but the young girl serving was very good and offered us coffee, toast and cereal which we had.

Easy access to London without paying London accommodation prices.

When we arrived we were ignored for quite a while by numerous staff.   Finally the manager came to check us in, which was painless.   Room was nice, clean and comfortable.  Then it went further downhill.   Service at the bar was ridiculously slow once again often ignored by the bar staff.  We ordered food - food order was incorrect, cutlery not brought to the table , food missing from the order.   Yorkshire pudding wraps were undercooked and soggy.  Really disappointing but due to the incompetence of the staff it was pointless complaining.   So bedroom once we were in was comfortable but bar/food left a lot to be desired.

Rooms good, bar/food disappointing

Good value for money, good breakfast - staff a bit evasive and grumpy, not very welcoming on the check in day. Different staff at checkout, more friendly and polite. Good location, room was clean but really cold when we arrived. Electric radiators fixed this within 30 minutes. Bathroom is clean but water pressure is low or they use electric water heaters. Overall, an okay stay

Good value for money, good breakfast

We stayed at the Innkeeper's Lodge for 3 nights with a group of 16 teachers and 3 coach drivers. Staff was rather unfriendly, even on the first encounter. On the first morning we wanted to enter the breakfast area at 7, but we were 2 minutes early. Staff pointed at the clock and kept us waiting outside until 1 minute past 7.  Then some of us sat down in a corner of the restaurant, but we weren't supposed to sit there and so a member of staff made that clear to us, but not without a deep sigh, she was annoyed and told her colleague while I was standing next to her. We left at 7.45h and didn't return until 10.15 in the evening. Instantly they made it clear to us that the pub closed at 11. I don't mind being told, but maybe a friendly word would have done the trick. 
On Saturday we again needed to have breakfast at 7 as our pupils were waiting for us, but on Friday a member of staff told us breakfast was served at 8 during the weekends. One of my colleagues asked whether it would be possible to just have some toast and marmelade at 7 then, nothing further, but there was no room for negotiation. Although we did pay in advance for 5 single rooms and 7 double rooms + breakfast they didn't even offer us a take-away sandwich. 
Rooms were just fine, but we won't be returning.  

Unfriendly

Overall the room was good, spacious enough for a wheelchair without feeling cramped once the wheelchair was in and parked up. There was a slight "feet" smell to the room though, the wife actually left the shoes in the car for the second night thinking it was them, it wasn't. The wet room is brilliant and accessible though the shower head is only good for those of us in a chair. The wife is 5'3 (so not at all tall) and the shower head reached her chest. I can't see why the shower head pole couldn't be made taller for able bodies as well as those of us in chairs. But it's not a huge issue. 
I've definitely slept on softer floors than those concrete bricks they call mattresses though.
Location wise, fantastic. Directly opposite a train station. Though the station is only accessible on platform one. The return journey bringing us onto platform two had a flight of stairs, worth bearing in mind for those in wheelchairs. 
Free parking for the duration of our stay was an added bonus in this part of the world.

Overall accessable good stay 

All staff helpful and friendly even when busy, particularly at the bar and reception. Clean and tidy room and plenty of good quality food at carvery and breakfast. Easy to find and good location for us.

Excellent service and value

A really lovely stay, 

Check in was smooth and simple and just at the entrance as you arrive into the toby carvery.

I arrived around 6pm after a 3 hour journey, and car parking was a little tight, however manager to secure a spot.

The room was lovely (room 5) comfortable and clean, a little tired in the edges and corners but non the less a lovely stay.  small toiletries were provided, great wifi and free parking..!! 

Minor noise from the night as other guests returned to the rooms can be heard from upstairs but slept perfect throughout the night.

Evening meal was in the restaurant and this site is busy..!! however managed to get a table and eat in the bar.

Breakfast was a standard buffet style breakfast, and staff were all friendly and chatty this morning, and overhearing some of the conversation, they take the time to look after their guests personally with one lady staying here on multiple occasioning and staff taking a genuine interest.

I would defo stay in this site again, you can see why this site is so busy, great staff, great atmosphere and lovely facilities. They showcase a 5 star brand standard awards in the cabinet next to the check in and they certainly live up to the 5 rating.

Keep up the super work and delivering the brand to perfection.



A lovely stay, first time and i would stay again...!!

Great friendly service. Good size twin room number 16. Lovely firm beds and fluffy pillows. Mirrors snd electric points in all the right places!!
Room was well maintained and clean. Tea and coffee in room. All  staff very friendly and welcoming. Would definitely stay again! 


Pleasant and comfortable stay 

It was a very devastating experience for us. We were attending a wedding locally and booked a room for 2 adults. Somehow we forgot to add a child to our booking. When we got to the reception the staff were not willing to accommodate us because of  this error and were not trying to help to remediate the error. It was devastating as we could not stay or get a refund. Had to look for alternative by driving back home late at night. I suggest you should be more welcoming to your guests when it comes to children it was a shocking experience.
